GDC Moderator Guidelines
These are the official Great Debate Debate Community (GDC) guidelines for moderators in the GDC G+ community. Due to the vast diversity of topics and possible situations the GDC guidelines should followed more by the spirit of the guidelines vice to the strict letter if there is ambiguity in direction to be followed.
1) Moderators are allowed to moderate any section in the GDC, however each section will have at least 2 main moderators which can be tagged by members of the GDC to ask for moderation that will be responsible for overall moderation for their assigned section.
2) Moderators, when asked to moderate (Tagged), will have assess the reason for the moderation request and take appropriate action based upon the action list (below).
3) Any removals from the GDC by must noted to Steve McRae with the appropriate reason given, moderators involved, and any related appropriate information if needs be (Screen shots for example).
Moderator action list:
Warning for rule violation. Please cite the specific rule being violated and if possible link to GDC Rules page on the GDC web page. Posts or comments which are clearly egregious violations can be removed by any moderator. If it is unclear if a post/comment should be removed please ask another moderator to evaluate.
#2 Warning for rule violation. Please cite the specific rule being violated and if possible link to GDC Rules page on the GDC web page. Additionally tag another moderator (preferably another moderator of the same section, but should be based on other factors such as who is available or who might be already be familiar with the situation.)
#3 Warning for rule violation. Please repeat the same actions as the #2 warning and tag Steve McRae (to inform him of the situation). The moderators involved will discuss addition action if there are continual violations of rule.
Possible additional actions: Removal of post, removal of comments, temporary removal from the GDC, permanent removal from the GDC.
Removal from the GDC requires 2 + moderators (3+ if a moderator is involved in the issue being moderator). Length of ban depends upon the severity of rule violation and will be determined on case by case basis.
